QS (Quacquarelli Symonds), a British higher education survey agency, announced on November 27 the 2020 rankings of the best universities in Asia. There are 37 universities in Taiwan on the list; Asia University (Asia University, Taiwan) ranks in the top 300, ranking 291 to 300, the 26th in Taiwan, the 10th in the private schools, and the 6th in the non-medical private schools.

In the announced list of the best universities in Asia of this year, the number of ranked schools has been expanded to 550, with the universities and colleges of a total of 18 countries entering the list. Its evaluation includes carefully-reviewed 11 indicators, namely, academic reputation, employer reputation, teacher-student ratio, teaching staff with doctorate degrees, average paper citation rate, per capita publication volume of papers, international academic cooperation, number of international faculty members and international students, and number of exchange students coming to and from other schools.

In the QS evaluation, "academic reputation" and "employer reputation" account for 50% of the scores of the entire ranking, which result from questionnaire surveys to the universities all over the world, showing that Asia University has gradually established a good international reputation. In addition, in terms of the number of papers published per capita, Asia University ranked the 120th in Asia, the 11th in Taiwan, the 2nd in the private schools, and the 1st in the non-medical universities.

The President of Asia University, Jeffrey J. P. Tsai said that Asia University, which was founded 19 years ago, is a young university. The fact that it can be listed in the British QS ranking based on school reputation, research publications and international exchanges indicates that Asia University is improving fast in its research, teaching and international competitiveness in the past. In addition to the QS international rankings, Asia University has also been included in the three major international academic rankings of The Times Higher Education (THE) Institution, the U.S. News and World Report, and Shanghai Jiaotong University, making it one of the top 100 universities in the world.

President Tsai emphasized that since its founding 19 years ago, Asia University has been actively recruiting outstanding foreign scholars, cultivating distinguished domestic young scholars, and establishing high-quality research teams and strengthening interdisciplinary researches. In addition, every effort has been made to improve the employability of students in the workplace and promote their international mobility. In the future, Asia University will redouble its efforts and continue to grow in the aspects of teaching, research, and cooperation with the industry and international universities, hoping to gain higher and higher international recognition.
