The affiliated veterinary hospital of Asia University, the first private university-affiliated veterinary hospital in Taiwan.

President Jeffrey J.P. Tsai of Asia University stated that the journey of establishing the Department of Post-Baccalaureate Veterinary Medicine at Asia University, as well as the establishment of the affiliated veterinary hospital, has been a challenging one. He expressed that their efforts deserve applause and recognition.

The affiliated veterinary hospital of Asia University has officially been established! On the morning of the 19th, the unveiling ceremony was conducted jointly by President Jeffrey J.P. Tsai of Asia University, Director-General Chwei-Jang Chiou of the Bureau of Animal and Plant Health Inspection and Quarantine, and Director Ju-Liang Lin of the Taichung City Animal Protection and Health Inspection Office. The Asia University Veterinary Hospital primarily focuses on clinical teaching, student internships, clinical services, and pathological diagnosis. The hospital is equipped with complete inspection facilities and operating rooms. It is the first private university-affiliated veterinary hospital in Taiwan and the second one in the central region following National Chung Hsing University.

President Jeffrey J.P. Tsai of Asia University expressed that the establishment of the affiliated veterinary hospital is a significant milestone, bearing witness to the extraordinary and arduous process from the establishment of the department of post-baccalaureate veterinary medicine to the establishment of the veterinary hospital. On behalf of Asia University, he applauded the veterinary department team.

Director-General Chwei-Jang Chiou of the Bureau of Animal and Plant Health Inspection and Quarantine, expressed deep gratitude to Asia University for its support in veterinary education, which has contributed to the continuous improvement of the veterinary system.

President Tsai pointed out that the establishment of the affiliated veterinary hospital of Asia University meets the growing demands of animal owners. Many teachers in the department of post-baccalaureate veterinary medicine have also contributed significantly to animal conservation and have made every effort to provide high-quality health maintenance for various animals. The hospital aims to cultivate excellent veterinary students in clinical treatment, internship training, and pathological diagnosis. Moreover, it is worth mentioning that graduates and doctoral students from National Taiwan University also come to Asia University to pursue postgraduate studies in veterinary medicine, indicating a promising future. The affiliated veterinary hospital of Asia University provides internship opportunities, allowing students to collaborate with experienced veterinarians, accumulate clinical experience, apply their knowledge in practice, conduct medical research, explore clinical research, promote animal health, epidemic prevention, and contribute more to the advancement of the veterinary field.

Chair Chi-Hsien Chien of the Department of Post-Baccalaureate Veterinary Medicine of Asia University stated that the affiliated veterinary hospital of Asia University was established with the support of the university president. The creation process started from scratch and now has complete teaching facilities. He believes that the veterinary teaching system must change and revolutionize veterinary education. Asia University's curriculum design allows students to gain maximum benefits in the shortest possible time. Post-Baccalaureate Veterinary Medicine students graduating this year will be able to intern at their own university-affiliated veterinary hospital. He hopes they will successfully pass the veterinary physician examination.

President Jeffrey J.P. Tsai of Asia University (pictured on the right) showed great interest in the introduction of the facilities by Chair Chi-Hsien Chien of the Department of Post-Baccalaureate Veterinary Medicine of Asia University. Specifically, he expressed interest in the adoption of "Annie dogs" at the affiliated veterinary hospital of Asia University.

Director Wei-Lian Qi of the affiliated veterinary hospital of Asia University stated that as a teaching and internship site for the department of post-baccalaureate veterinary medicine students, the affiliated veterinary hospital of Asia University can improve teaching and internship quality, allowing students to pass the licensure examination and accumulate professional competence.

Director-General Chwei-Jang Chiou of the Bureau of Animal and Plant Health Inspection and Quarantine pointed out his deep gratitude for Asia University's support of veterinary education. This support contributes to the continuous improvement of the veterinary system. Veterinary work differs from other disciplines in its strict requirements for expertise and skills. The World Organization for Animal Health has been promoting the notion that veterinarians must possess job capabilities from their first day of work. This direction is also being advocated domestically, ensuring that graduates can shoulder the responsibilities of veterinarians from their first day on the job. Having good internship facilities provides students with better and more comprehensive learning spaces, which is highly important.

President Tsai and others subsequently visited the various facilities of the affiliated veterinary hospital of Asia University. They found the use of "Annie dogs" for practice, operating rooms, computed tomography equipment, and traditional Chinese medicine acupuncture models for dogs to be very novel and believed that students would greatly benefit from interning in such an environment.

Director Chien stated that the affiliated veterinary hospital of Asia University offers internal medicine, surgery, and traditional Chinese veterinary medicine clinics for companion animals. Specialized clinics include ophthalmology, cardiology, behavioral medicine, and clinics for non-canine and feline companion animals.
