(A) Management and Humanities Building

Front entrance of Humanities and Management Building      The Management and Humanities Building is the first building of Asia University. The entrances of the building are very elegant, each mainly with the classical baroque structure of huge Ionic-order columns.

Statues in front of Humanities and Management Building      The main entrance of the building, regarded as the door of the College of Management, faces the south. With the structure of a triangular-shaped gable, the entrance consists mainly of a high top, a horizontal beam, and many pillars.  There is a scenic garden in front of the building, which includes a large square space paved with grey bricks and a square grass yard. The yard, being decorated with two statues "A Graceful Phoenix is Coming"  and "A Shepherd Boy" created respectively by the famous artists Yuyu Yang and Hsu-huei Wang, is chic and sets off the beauty of the building.

West entrance of Humanities and Managemnet Building      The west entrance of the building is regarded as the door of the College of Humanities and Social Science, which is constructed with four columns supporting a horizontal beam, forming a baroque-style structure as well. Before the entrance is a platform, followed by a square with geometric-shaped plants. The square is used as the pathway from the first and the second dormitories. Many campus activities are held in the square.

Pole series of virtual North entrance of Humanities and Management Building      The north side of the building has a "virtual entrance" with a structure of six pillars of the Ionic order supporting a horizontal beam. The virtual entrance was prepared in advance for future use as a door connected to a to-be-constructed artistic overhead path crossing the Leoufeng Road which cuts the campus into two parts. The path leads to a door of the gymnasium in another part of the school campus.

Courtyard of Humanities and Management Building

Surprisingly pretty are four bushes of hedge bamboo in the middle courtyard of the building, which is a recreational area for students. There are flower beds aside the corridors on each floor of the building. Embedded in the flower beds on the first floor are coral plants with cute red flowers, on the second and third floors are common lantana plants, on the fourth floor are common allamanda plants, on the fifth floor are primrose jasmine flowers, and finally on the sixth floor are wedelia plants. The plants fall down from the beds and wave in the air, forming a dynamic flower scene which contrasts with the white walls of the corridors.

Lotus pond at back of Humanities and Management Building

At the back of this building, there exists a lotus pond which, like a mirror, reflects a pretty image of the building. A pavilion appears at a corner of the pond, lotus flowers float on the pond water, and willow trees make shades around. Students come to have rests in the pavilion, read books there, and appreciate the floral scene outside. What a happy campus life!

Stone tables under trees at right-hand side of front square of Humanities and Management Building

At the left-hand side of the front door of the building are several camphor trees, and under them are a number of stone tables. The nearby area is paved with white pebble stones and surrounded with beautiful flowers, where students may meet after class and talks, creating a good time in the university career.

White statue before Humanities and Management Building      Finally, it is mentioned that at the front door sides of the building, there stand two finely-carved statues of figures from Greek mythology with alive looks and graceful postures, just like two guards of the building which are worth close observation and appreciation.

(B) Health Science Building

Bird view of Health Sci. Building and Computer Sci. Building (built to be a single structure)      The Health Science Building and the Computer Science Building were constructed integrally to be of a single structure with two courtyards and two entrances, one entrance for the College of Health Science, and the other for the College of Computer Science. Both entrances were built to be of the Baroque style.

Entrance of Heaoth Sci. Building

The entrance of Health Science Building faces the north and has a frontal gray-colored wall consisting of four Doric-order columns and a horizontal beam, yielding a thrifty but solemn atmosphere. There is a big grass field before the entrance, which is surrounded by Madagascar Almond trees and leisure chairs. The field is a  good place frequently used for large-scale meetings, parties, festivals, etc.A statue at the entrance of Health Sci. Building

健康大樓前希臘雕塑      At the left-hand side of the stairway in front of the building is a statue "Teenager" created by a famous artist Ten- Chuan Yu, which portrays a lovely child looking at a singing bird. The statue serves as a foil to the solemn door hall and forms an interesting contrast. At the corners of the stairways, there lay two love-story statues of the Greek mythology, each including a couple of features with intoxicating and aspiring postures.

A statue by Yuyu Yang in courtyard of Health sci. Building

The courtyard of the building is surrounded  by dragon juniper trees, and located at the middle of the yard is a statue " A Graceful Phoenix is Coming" by the great artist Yuyu Yang (smaller than the copy in the front yard of the Management and Humanities Building). The phoenix statue looks like going to fly away with wide-spanned wings, signifying the endeavor of the university in high education to become an internationally famous university.

A corridor besides courtyard of Health Sci. Building

At a side of the courtyard is a corridor, of which the left is a series of French windows, and the right is a series of red-brick poles. Going through the corridor with a mood of ease, one may visit the irregular exhibition of teaching and research achievements of the faculty on the way or observe the green scene formed by the plants embedded in the flower beds on the building floors.

Coffee shop at a corner of courtyard of Health Sci. Building      There is a coffee shop at a corner of the courtyard. It is a good place to have a tea time with friends while sitting under the red umbrellas provided the shop.

(C) Computer Science Building

The Computer Science Building and the Health Science Building were constructed integrally to be of a single structure with two courtyards and two entrances, one entrance for the College of Health Science, and the other for the College of Computer Science. Both entrances were built to be of the Baroque style.

Entrance of Computer Sci. Building

The entrance of the Computer Science Building is at the east side, facing the Administration Building. Looking like the famous Pantheon in Rome, the body of the entrance is a transparent octagonal pavilion with a mix of classical and modern flavors, showing a sort of frequently-changing beauty.

An artwork

Located at the middle of the pavilion is a statue called "Life" created by a famous artist Kuo-Hua Chen. The statue is mainly composed of uprising twisted steel curves looking like the DNA structure of human beings, which may be regarded to symbolize the growth of life.

Flower beds at floors of Computer Sci. Building      There is a courtyard in the middle part of the building and at a side of it is a stage for use in various campus activities. Like the Health science Building, common lantana plants are grown in the flower beds on each floor of the building, resulting in pretty waterfall-like green leaf bands with yellow flowers waving in the air.

Grass field in front of computer Sci. Building      In front of the building entrance is also a big grass field, through which there is a white-pebble path leading to the Administration Building. The field is so green that when walking on it, everyone feels relaxed and joyous.

Taiji Lake near Computer Science Building (Background is Administration Building)

Beside the building, there exists a secluded lake called Taiji. The lake is full of lotus flowers, and a garden beside it is full of roses. After class, one may take a look at the lake through the classroom window or have a walk along the lakeside, either way appropriate for appreciating the scenic views and forgetting the hardship of learning in school.

Campus walk at back of Computer Science Building with cassia fistula trees      At the back of the building, there is a little forest. At a side of the forest, there is an around-campus walk with cassia fistula trees planted at its twoPathway in little forest at back of Computer Science Buildingsides, which are in full blossom of golden shower flowers in early summer. At the other side of the forest, there is a quiet path along which sounds of wind and water are audible. What a good spot for love dating or pressure relief!

(D) Gymnasium

Front of gymnasium      Constructed with white granite stones, the outside wall of the gymnasium is of the shape of the Colosseum in Rome, Italy. The wall encloses the main building of the gymnasium and forms a special scenic view which matches the Greek-style buildings in other parts of the campus. With this Colosseum-shaped gymnasium, the entire school becomes a campus of the Roman-Greek style.

Pillar series inside Colosseum-shaped gymnasium      More specifically, the wall has two levels and includes detailed structures like arches, corridors, passages, etc., which, when viewed from a distance, looks so similar to the Colosseum relic in Rome that every passerby is attracted to watch it.

Arch wall of gymnasium

To appreciate the beauty of the Colosseum-like gymnasium, one has to understand the origin of development of the "arch wall" which ancient Romans constructed for the Colosseum. Such a type of wall resulted mainly from the need of insulating the pillar structure in a building from the nature by constructing walls between pillars, forming a series of wall-pillar combinations with an arch appearing in between every two pillars.

Interior of gymnasium     It is meaningful for the gymnasium to have the Colosseum structure as its outer appearance, because the Colosseum signifies ancient Romans' sports contests and knowing this hopefully encourages people visiting the gymnasium to conduct physical training and fitness keeping there.

Statue by Yuyu Yang,

At the entrance of the gymnasium, there is a statue "Wide Heart Embraces All" created by the great artist Yuyu Yang, which has the meaning that a participant in a contest must be able to tolerate failures before he/she can succeed.

(E) Administration Building

Front entrance of Administration Building      The Administration Building is the highest building in Asia University. It has an architecture of the Baroque style, with an impressing high-rising structure. A main feature of the building is its frontal face constructed mainly with giant Corinthian-order pillars with a height of three stories. The central outer part of the building is a verdigris dome, accompanied by two matching towers at the sides. The entire building is full of a solemn atmosphere, and looks like a palace in Europe.

Corinthian order pillars of Administration Building

A circular-shaped grass area appears in front of the building. A wide stairway leads to the main body of the building. Climbing up the stairs, one can see two corridors consisting of the mentioned Corinthian-order pillars at the sides, which are tall, grave, and astonishing.

Moving forward, one comes to a wide circular hall. A star shape enclosed by crossing curves of a geometric pattern is seen on the floor there. In the middle of the hall is placed a famous statue "The Thinker" created by the world-known artist Rodin. Above the statue is the dome, and located at the two sides of the hall are the Library and the Art Center. Strolling in them, one can enjoy the atmosphere of art and culture there.

Dome of Administration Building

Standing beside the statue, one can observe the pretty inner part of the high-rising dome which contrasts keenly with "The Thinker" who bows the head. The open space of the dome works like a magnet to draw cool wind from the exterior of the building, attracting not only students and teachers to stroll here, but marrying couples from outside the campus to take wedding-gown photos around the hall.

Grass meadow in front of Administration Building

Turning back to see the grass area in front of the building, one can find its circular shape which is just the geometry usually adopted for a garden by a Baroque-style architecture. The band circle enclosing the area, which consists of 48 cypress trees, forms a contrast with the dome of the building and shows harmonic beauty of gardening and architecture.

Taiji Lake and far view seen from Administration Building

Walking out the hall, one can see a semi-circular platform where one can observe most part of the campus, including the Taiji Lake, an artificial arch-shaped waterfall, the Health Science Building, the Computer Science Building, and the grass fields before the two buildings. Looking farther, one can see the pretty around-campus rice fields and even the two highways nearby ¾ the2nd Freeway and the Taichung-Changhua Freeway.

Observation deck and entrance of Library at back of Administration Building      Within the building are several organization units, including the Administration Center, the International Conference Hall, a bookstore, the College of Creative Design, and the International College, in addition to the Library and the Art Center mentioned previously.

Statue by Arman,       It is worth mention that there are many world-class art collections in the Library and the Art Center, like the statue "Poem of Victoria" by Armen, the statue "Eternal Spring" by Rodin, and so on. One may want to appreciate them in a easy mood to nourish the soul of art.

Night view of Administration Building      As a summary, no matter when seen from the front or from the back, the Administration Building is equally magnificent, and within it, one can definitely feel the determination of Asia University to make every effort in running a high-quality and world-class school.

(F) Dormitories

Bird view of the First and the Second Dormitories      The front entrance of each of the four dormitories of Asia University was constructed to have a special feature, though all having the same Baroque style.

The First Dormitory

The square in front of the First Dormitory has a rectangular-shaped beam structure, with three of its four horizontal beams being attached to the walls of the dormitory. Two of the four beams are supported by four pairs of Ionic-order poles. The atmosphere of the square is classic and elegant.

The Second Dormitory

The Second Dormitory also has a square on which there is instead a circular beam structure supported by four pairs of Ionic-order pillars, yielding a feeling of rotundity and harmony. Furthermore, there is a circular pattern on the floor of the square, which is visually a very beautiful geometric design.

The Third Dormitory      The front entrance of the Third Dormitory has a high weather shed structure supported by four Ionic-order pillars, and its side entrance has a Greek structure.

The Fourth Dormitory

The entrance of the most recently constructed Fourth Dormitory has the same structure as that of the Third Dormitory, also being very elegant. All the architectures of the four dormitories are uniform and match those of the other buildings in the campus, forming a classically pretty Roman-Greek campus with unified styles.

(G) Asia Museum of Modern Art (designed by Tadao Ando)

Model of Ando Art Museum at Asia University      The world-famous architect Tadao Ando from Japan was invited by Asia University to design his first university museum in the world. Construction of the Asia University Art Museum designed by him began in February 2011 and was finished in October 2013.

Model 2 of Ando Art Museum at Asia University

The main body of the museum is composed of three regular triangles, which are  piled up to form three stories, with each story arranged in a distinct direction and designed in a different style, forming a very eye-catching appearance.

Mr. Tadao Ando in front of a sample of fair-faced concrete

To match the local natural environment, the building is to be constructed with fair-faced concrete preferred by Mr. Ando. It is also desired to create interesting space by the use of the three triangles; therefore, within the middle area of the three stacked triangular structures, a courtyard is created through which rain is allowed to fall directly into the building and people may see the blue sky as well.

Simulation of Ando Art Museum at Asia Unicersity      For the design of the exterior of the building, a large amount of glass and V-shaped structural units are used, which, in addition to working as support to the over-hanging beams, offer comfortable shelters from intensive sunshine and hot weather in Taiwan.

Simulation 2 of Ando Art Museum at Asia Unicersity      This triangular-shaped art museum, once completed, will face the nearby Baroque dome of the Administration Building, create a sort of "confronting harmony," and become a new landmark of middle Taiwan.
