Asia University and Taichung City to Develop FengFu Health Park, Targeting 2028 Opening---

″FengFu Health Park″will generate 2,000 job opportunities, stimulating the development of mountainous areas like Fengyuan and other similar regions.

Deputy Mayor Guo-Rong Huang of Taichung City Government expressed that based on Asia University's excellent performance in establishing a university and hospital in Wufeng, he believes that the "FengFu Health Park" will undoubtedly be very successful.

Asia University (AU), Taiwan, and Taichung City Government signed a land lease agreement to develop the FengFu Health Park into a multifunctional theme park and commence its operation by 2028. The signing was completed by Taichung City Deputy Mayor Guo-Rong Huang, Director-General of the Land Administration Bureau of Taichung City Government Cun-Jin Wu, Director of the Economic Development Bureau of Taichung City Government, Feng-Yuan Chang, and the Chairman of Asia University, Chang-Hai Tsai. Taichung City Deputy Mayor Guo-Rong Huang expressed that judging from Asia University's excellent performance in establishing a university and hospital in Wufeng, he believes that the "FengFu Health Park" will undoubtedly be very successful. the Chairman Chang-Hai Tsai stated that education, medical care, and health industries will be brought to the "Fengfu Park," with an estimated creation of 2,000 job opportunities, driving the development of Fengyuan. President Jeffrey J.P. Tsai further mentioned that following the establishment of the Asia University Affiliated Hospital, the university is fulfilling its University Social Responsibility (USR).

Taichung City Deputy Mayor Guo-Rong Huang stated that the "FengFu Health Park" holds significant significance, bringing joy and high hopes to the local residents. He expressed optimism about the prospects of this project and extended his gratitude to the Asia University team for their contributions to Taichung City. In the past, Wufeng flourished with the presence of the provincial council, possessing a rich cultural heritage. However, it declined after the provincial government was dissolved. In recent years, with the efforts of Chairman Tsai and President Tsai, Asia University has not only revitalized the local area but also steadily climbed in international rankings among the world's top universities. This has brought international recognition to Wufeng, Taichung, and Taiwan. Activities such as annual Nobel laureate dialogues and the construction of the Asia University Modern Art Museum designed by renowned architect Ando Tadao have been carried out, and it is believed that these experiences can be replicated in the "FengFu Health Park."

Chairman Chang-Hai Tsai of Asia University mentioned that they will integrate education, medical services, and the health industry into the " Fengfu Park", stimulating that this initiative could generate around 2,000 job opportunities and contribute to the development of Fengyuan.

Asia University Chairman Chang-Hai Tsai pointed out that Asia University has been established for 22 years. When it was founded, it faced the challenge of the 921 earthquake. At that time, many people advised him, "It's better not to establish a university in Wufeng! Because the future of Wufeng doesn't seem so promising." With a commitment to serving Taichung City, he went ahead and founded Asia University. Over the past decade, Asia University's global university rankings have consistently remained within the top 500. In the previous year's Times Higher Education World University Rankings, Asia University was ranked 384th globally and 4th in Taiwan, continuing its journey towards becoming a top-tier international university. Additionally, Asia University has established affiliated hospitals, a veterinary teaching hospital, and an affiliated art museum, all contributing to its deep engagement with the Wufeng area.

Chairman Chang-Hai Tsai expressed that he is approaching the " FengFu Health Park " with a heart filled with gratitude. The plan involves constructing three buildings, including a hospital, a comprehensive long-term care institution, and a daycare center. These facilities aim to provide medical care, long-term care, industry-academia collaboration, and biotechnology health industries. Among them, the hospital will have 350 beds for general acute care, the comprehensive long-term care facility will accommodate 200 residents, and the daycare center will serve 30 individuals.

Legislator Johnny Chi-Chen Chiang stated that during his 12 years as a legislator, he has eagerly anticipated the implementation and development of the " FengFu Health Park ", recognizing its significant significance for Fengyuan with a symbolic impact.

Chairman Chang-Hai Tsai stated that the initial estimated investment amount for the project was 5.5 billion NTD, but due to the continuous rise in labor and material costs, the preliminary construction cost is now projected to increase to 7.5 billion NTD. However, he expressed great willingness to serve the communities in the greater Fengyuan area, including Fengyuan, Shengang, Tanzi, and Houlí. As the medical and long-term care resources in these areas are relatively scarce, Asia University is committed to filling these gaps by providing comprehensive hospital and long-term care services, aiming to deliver the best medical care possible with the motto "Rescue Urgently, Rescue Lives, Rescue Hearts, and Rescue Lives."

Chairman Tsai further mentioned that many friends have told him, "Fengyuan doesn't have a university!" He also hopes to bring Asia University's continuing education department to Fengyuan. Additionally, in the field of health and well-being industry, he aims for collaboration between the university and the hospital to introduce the biomedical industry, focusing on precision medicine and stem cell immunotherapy, with the aspiration to aid cancer and neurological patients. He also intends to leverage the resources of China Medical University to bring education, medical care, and health industries to the global stage, hoping to make Taichung City shine even brighter on the international stage.

City Councilor Jin-fen Chang expressed that the establishment of Asia University has fulfilled the dream of having a university in Fengyuan where there was none before.

"Here we are, waiting for this moment, we've waited for a long time!" Legislator Johnny Chi-Chen Chiang expressed. Having been a legislator for 12 years, he has been anticipating the "FengFu Health Park" since day one, hoping it would bear fruit. He emphasized the significant symbolic meaning of this project for mountainous areas like Fengyuan. Fengyuan is an important region for the development of sports and health industries. He hopes to attract investments, cultivate talents, and provide comprehensive care, marking an essential beginning for the next phase of development in Fengyuan. City Councilor Jin-fen Chang also stated that this is the most anticipated event for her in her 46 years in politics. The establishment of Asia University here fulfills the dream of having a university in Fengyuan.

Director-General of the Land Administration Bureau Cun-Jin Wu, mentioned that the total development area of the "Abundant Project" is 5.51 hectares. The successfully attracted investment for this project covers an area of about 1.96 hectares. He believes that with Asia University's presence, apart from serving nearly 500,000 to 600,000 residents in the Fengyuan area, it will also contribute to the overall development of the region.

President Jeffrey J.P. Tsai stated that in order to align with the operation of the " Fengfu Park" five years later, Asia University is actively recruiting and nurturing high-quality talents who will be ready to contribute when the time comes. For Asia University students, this will become a place for internships and employment across all six colleges of the university, enabling graduates to transition seamlessly from graduation to employment. This initiative also aligns with Asia University's commitment to fulfilling its university social responsibility (USR).
