President's Welcome Message

Asia University (AU) is a visionary, pioneering, and fast-growing school and was founded with the goal of establishing a remarkable and comprehensive university with international competitiveness. Karl Jaspers, a German philosopher, believed that an ideal university must have three features- academic teaching, scientific research, and creative cultural life, which are exactly what we have been pursuing for years since the establishment of the school.

Ranked in Six Global University Rankings

Asia University (AU) was officially established just four years after its founding and now comprises seven colleges, 26 academic departments, 19 master's programs, nine in-service master's programs, and eight doctoral programs. Over the past 24 years, AU has set numerous outstanding records among newly established universities in Taiwan. Domestically, it has been recognized as a Teaching Excellence University by the Ministry of Education for 12 consecutive years. From 2015 to 2025, it has been ranked among the Top 20 Public and Private Universities for Academic Performance by Cheers Magazine, alongside many prestigious national universities. In the 2025 Global Views Monthly Taiwan University Rankings, AU ranks 18th overall, 6th among private universities, and 2nd among private universities in central Taiwan.

Internationally, Asia University has been listed in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings for 11 consecutive years, ranking 6th in Taiwan, 2nd among private universities, and 1st among non-medical private universities. In the U.S. News & World Report 2026 global university rankings, AU ranks 703rd worldwide, 6th in Taiwan, 2nd among private universities, and again 1st among non-medical private universities. The College of Information and Electrical Engineering has achieved global rankings in three core disciplines: Artificial Intelligence (130th), Electrical Engineering (164th), and Computer Science (219th), showcasing AU’s strong international competitiveness in digital technologies. Furthermore, AU has also earned recognition in six major global university rankings, including those by Shanghai Jiao Tong University (ARWU), QS, Russia's RUR, and Turkey's URAP—solidifying its status as a top-performing private university.

Dedicated to Research and Talent Development in AI, Semiconductors, Health Management, and Sustainability

To advance scientific research, Asia University has established a number of specialized research centers, including the Artificial Intelligence Research Center, AI Semiconductor Design and Sustainable Manufacturing Research Center, Precision Health Research Center, Cybersecurity Research Center, the Institute of Innovation and Circular Economy, Big Data Research Center, High Performance Materials Institute for xD Printing, and the Center for Prevention and Treatment of Internet Addiction. In response to the era of generative AI, AU is building smart campuses to cultivate future digital citizens, offering AI talent scholarships, and incorporating AI general education across the curriculum, striving to become a human-centered smart university. The university also actively promotes the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), enhancing students’ and faculty’s awareness and action toward sustainability and humanistic care.

Creating an Artistic Campus with a World-Class Museum

Asia University emphasizes the cultivation of an artistic and cultural atmosphere on campus. In 2007, it commissioned the renowned architect Tadao Ando to design the Asia University Museum of Modern Art, which officially opened in 2013. This architectural masterpiece has enriched the campus’s artistic environment, serving as a venue for teaching, research, and creation. It also provides a world-class exhibition space for domestic and international artworks and fosters exchange among artists—laying the foundation for AU to become a hub for Taiwan’s cultural and academic collaboration with the world.

International AI Certification and Design Awards—Demonstrating Students' Global Competitiveness

Asia University actively promotes AI talent development. Its NVIDIA AI certification program has enabled over 100 students to earn international certification, the highest among all higher education institutions in Taiwan. Additionally, in collaboration with Amazon, AU established the "Cloud Innovation School," where 113 students have received AWS international certification. Together, more than 200 students have obtained NVIDIA and AWS certifications, significantly enhancing their competitiveness in AI and cloud technology on the global job market.

In creative design and invention, AU has achieved remarkable success, consistently encouraging student participation in international competitions. Under the Ministry of Education’s International Competition Program for Arts and Design, AU has held the highest number of awards among all universities in Taiwan for 10 consecutive years. As of July 2025, AU students have won 17 German iF Design Awards, 2 Japan G-Mark Awards, and 158 German Red Dot Design Awards—including 16 “Best of the Best” honors. Moreover, AU has secured 119 gold, 144 silver, and 101 bronze medals, along with 41 special awards, 2 grand prizes, 1 second grand prize, and 3 top international honors at major international invention exhibitions. AU students have been invited to the Presidential Office three times to be personally recognized by the President and Vice President, highlighting their exceptional performance on the global stage.

Establishing Affiliated Institutions to Serve the Community and Cultivate Talent

The completion of the Asia University Museum of Modern Art marked a new milestone for the university, reflecting its commitment to fostering a campus culture rooted in health, care, innovation, and excellence. To cultivate outstanding healthcare professionals, AU established its affiliated hospital in 2016 and is currently planning a long-term care facility. The AU Veterinary Teaching Hospital began operations in 2022, providing high-quality healthcare services for animals. In 2023, the university secured land use rights from the Taichung City Government in the Fengfu District to construct its second affiliated hospital, along with facilities for long-term care, biotechnology, and early childhood education. Scheduled to open in November 2026, this new complex will create 2,500 jobs and serve as both a community health center and a practical training site for students from AU’s medical and healthcare-related colleges.

Toward Becoming a World-Class University

We sincerely hope that Asia University will not only serve as a distinguished hub of academic pursuit for students but also, like Harvard and Oxford, become a destination admired by art and culture lovers and educators worldwide. Our vision is to become a world-class university that values the humanities, academic research, internationalization, and sustainable development.
