Asia University Makes a Significant Leap in the 2025 Global Views University Rankings — Ranked 18th Nationally, 6th Among Private Universities, and 2nd in Central Taiwan

Global Views Monthly has released its latest “2025 Taiwan Best Universities” rankings, and Asia University (AU) has achieved remarkable progress across several categories. AU is now ranked 18th overall in Taiwan, 6th among private universities, and 2nd among private universities in Central Taiwan. Notably, the university also saw major leaps in categories such as industry-academia collaboration and financial robustness, while its level of internationalization rose five places to 14th nationwide. These improvements highlight AU’s growing academic performance and global competitiveness.

According to Global Views, this is the 10th edition of its annual university ranking, widely recognized as one of the most comprehensive and detailed university assessments in Taiwan. Over the past decade—often referred to as the golden era of higher education reform in Taiwan—the number of evaluation indicators has expanded from 22 in 2016 to 53 main indicators and 69 sub-indicators in 2025. Universities are grouped and ranked based on their attributes and comprehensive performance.

This year’s rankings were based on the Ministry of Education’s 2024–2025 list of higher education institutions. After excluding junior colleges, open universities, and religious seminaries, a total of 126 universities were evaluated. Among them, 121 universities met the threshold for inclusion (with freshman enrollment rates above 60%). Raw data for each indicator were standardized and weighted to generate the final rankings.

Founded just 25 years ago, Asia University is one of Taiwan’s youngest institutions but has stood out in this year’s rankings across multiple categories:

Asia University President Jeffrey J. P. Tsai noted that in the 2026 QS World University Rankings, AU also rose by 100 spots to the 711–720 range, ranking 14th in Taiwan, 3rd among private universities, and 1st among non-medical private universities. Similarly, in the 2026 U.S. News & World Report Best Global Universities, AU ranked 703rd globally, 6th in Taiwan, 2nd among private universities, and 1st among non-medical private universities, marking a 42-place jump—the largest increase among all Taiwanese universities.

President Tsai emphasized that Asia University’s continued upward trajectory in both domestic and global rankings reflects the solid foundation built over the years and showcases the distinctive "AU DNA" that sets the university apart.
