First-Time Entry Achieves Global Rank 141, Taiwan Rank 6, and No. 1 Among All Private Universities

Asia University ranks No. 1 among all private universities in Taiwan in the 2026 THE Interdisciplinarity Rankings
Asia University (AU) has been ranked No. 1 among all private universities in Taiwan in the “2026 Times Higher Education (THE) Interdisciplinarity Rankings.” In its first-ever appearance on the list, AU earned an impressive position of 141st globally, 6th in Taiwan, and 1st among private universities nationwide — the only private university in Taiwan to break into the global top 150.
This year marks the second edition of THE’s Interdisciplinarity Rankings, which evaluate 1,267 universities across 94 countries, with 911 institutions successfully listed. Responding to the accelerating interdisciplinary trend in the AI era, THE assesses universities through three major indicators: (1) Funding and Infrastructure, (2) Management Support and Performance Advancement, and (3) Research Quality and Reputation — with Research Quality and Reputation carrying the highest weight. This indicator is also where AU achieved its strongest performance.
According to the 2026 rankings, seven universities in Taiwan entered the global top 150, with Asia University standing out at rank 141 — first among private universities and the sole private institution represented in the top tier.

Asia University hosts the Interdisciplinary Exploration Expo, with strong student participation
AU President Jeffrey J.P. Tsai emphasized that AU has long prioritized interdisciplinary learning, autonomous learning, and industry-linked research. The newly established Asia University AI & Quantum Research Center focuses on interdisciplinary integration and industry collaboration, advancing research in quantum algorithm design, quantum machine learning, cybersecurity and encryption, and extending applications to medical AI, smart finance, and real-world technological innovation. The center plays a pioneering role in quantum AI while cultivating talent with global vision and innovation capabilities.
President Tsai also highlighted the "2025 Interdisciplinary Exploration Expo," an event designed to help students deepen autonomous and interdisciplinary learning. Through detailed program information prepared by all departments, students can reevaluate their interests, understand future career paths, explore interdisciplinary opportunities, and make informed decisions on cross-domain academic development. AU also promotes introductory courses across all departments, incorporating diverse teaching methods to strengthen students’ professional understanding and industry awareness, fostering the core competencies required of modern "π-shaped talents."
He further noted that in today’s fast-changing society, mastering a single field is no longer sufficient. AU encourages students to pursue interdisciplinary programs, minors, or double majors. The university now offers 16 on-campus interdisciplinary programs, plus four joint programs with China Medical University under the “CMU–AU System,” providing a total of 20 cross-domain pathways. Students’ strong performance in interdisciplinary learning is directly reflected in AU’s outstanding results in the THE Interdisciplinarity Rankings.
