10 Indonesian scholarship recipients have successfully completed their learning journey at Asia University, demonstrating outstanding performance
Asia University was selected as one of the global partners of the Indonesian government's " Indonesian International Student Mobility Awards " (IISMA) in 2023, among 65 universities worldwide. The Indonesian government selected 10 outstanding Indonesian university students to study at Asia University for a full semester. The 10 Indonesian scholarship recipients praised Asia University for its care and academic excellence. Asia University was again selected as a global partner school for the "IISMA Program" in 2024 due to its outstanding implementation of the program, with only 8 universities in Taiwan selected.
Ying-Huei Chen, the Director of Office of International Affairs at Asia University, stated that the "IISMA Program" is an important part of the Indonesian government's efforts to promote university internationalization. In 2023, for the first time, technical and vocational colleges in Indonesia were included in the program to encourage Indonesian technical and vocational college students to engage in international exchange, study, and internships to enhance their multicultural competence and international mobility. The Indonesian government provides full scholarships for one semester, covering tuition fees, registration fees, living allowances, health checks, insurance, etc.
Director Ying-Huei Chen pointed out that this is Asia University's second participation in the "IISMA Program." The 10 Indonesian scholarship recipients chose to study in the Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering and the Department of Accounting and Information Systems. Local students from both departments were assigned as study partners to assist them in their daily lives and studies.
After a whole semester of study, all 10 Indonesian scholarship recipients expressed their happiness at having the opportunity to study at Asia University, known as a "world-renowned university," which enriched their experiences. The departments provided various forms of assistance, arranging visits to enterprises, internships, cultural and ecological visits, etc., allowing them to gain valuable practical experience. They all expressed their desire to continue their studies at Asia University for dual degrees or pursue master's and doctoral degrees in the future.
Office of International Affairs at Asia University specially organized a farewell dinner for the end of the semester. IRFAN, a student representative from Politeknik Caltex Riau in Indonesia and a participant in the Asia University "IISMA Program," stated that after coming to Asia University, he realized that his previous life was too confined, as if trapped in a cage without knowing how vast the outside world is. While studying at Asia University, he had the opportunity to acquire new knowledge and learn new things of various kinds. He hopes that more Indonesian students will come to Asia University to study through the "IISMA Program."
