President Nguyen Khac Thanh of FPT University Leads Delegation to Asia University, Taiwan to Advance Semiconductor Talent Development in Vietnam

President Jeffrey J.P. Tsai stated that AU’s collaboration with FPT University will focus on semiconductor development through academic exchange and talent cultivation to boost industrial growth
On April 13, a delegation from Vietnam’s FPT University, led by President Dr. Nguyen Khac Thanh, visited Asia University, Taiwan to promote collaborative efforts in semiconductor development. During the visit, AU President Jeffrey J.P. Tsai and Dr. Thanh signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) to jointly cultivate talent through programs in semiconductor design and smart manufacturing, aiming to support Vietnam’s rapidly growing semiconductor sector.
The delegation was warmly welcomed with a vibrant cultural ceremony held at Rodin Plaza. The event featured a traditional lion dance, an indigenous dance performance by local AU students, and a Vietnamese traditional dance by AU’s Vietnamese students. Joining Dr. Thanh were FPT University Vice President Dr. Nguyen Kim Anh and Dr. Hoang Viet Ha, Vice Chair of FPT Corporation.

In his welcoming remarks, President Jeffrey J.P. Tsai emphasized AU’s commitment to international academic collaboration and its strong ties with New Southbound countries. He recalled his visit to Vietnam and FPT University last August, praising FPT University’s pioneering efforts in digital transformation. Backed by Vietnam’s tech giant FPT Corporation, FPT University has made remarkable strides in AI, big data, and the Internet of Things. AU and FPT’s cooperation will focus on semiconductors, leveraging academic exchanges and talent development to inject new momentum into the industry and significantly enhance Vietnam’s semiconductor talent pipeline.

Dr. Nguyen Khac Thanh highlighted the pressing need for skilled professionals in Vietnam’s fast-developing semiconductor industry. He expressed excitement about partnering with AU and drawing upon Taiwan’s deep expertise in semiconductors to cultivate future leaders in the field.
Following the MOA signing, the FPT delegation toured AU’s state-of-the-art facilities, including the STEM Semiconductor Teaching and Research Center, the Center for Intelligent Semiconductor Design and Sustainable Manufacturing, the AMD Logic and Computing Lab, and the Semiconductor Device Simulation Lab. The delegation praised AU’s advanced infrastructure and research achievements, noting the partnership’s potential to open new opportunities for Vietnam’s talent development and industrial innovation.
Together, AU and FPT University aim to foster educational internationalization and strengthen industry-academia collaboration, nurturing globally competitive talent to serve both Taiwan and Vietnam’s semiconductor sectors.
