Pass rates for speech therapists, audiologists, and nurses all exceed 90%; Asia University leads in occupational therapist nationwide and audiologist at second place

Asia University's 2023 graduates have achieved high pass rates in national licensing examination, with all 10 majors surpassing the national average. Among them, audiologists at 93.33%, speech therapists at 91.18%, and nurses at 93.4%, all exceeding 90%. Yu-Kai Chang from the Department of Occupational Therapy topped the national rankings, while Cai-Li Weng from the Department of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology secured the second position. Optometrists, veterinarian, occupational therapists, physical therapists, early childhood educators, and social workers also achieved pass rates well above the national average. President Jeffrey J.P. Tsai of Asia University stated that after obtaining license, students possess strong employability, securing employment upon graduation, with an average monthly salary of over 50,000 NTD!
The 2023 Professional and Technical Examinations’ results have been gradually revealed. Department of Nursing at Asia University achieved a 93.4% pass rate, surpassing the national average of 45.73%. Department of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology achieved a 93.33% pass rate, exceeding the average pass rate of 88.5%. Speech therapists achieved a pass rate of 91.18%, higher than the average pass rate of 85.49%. Notably, in the audiologist examination section, Asia University occupied half of the top 10 positions, with Cai-Li Weng securing the second position. This year, the optometrist examination 's difficulty increased, with the national average pass rate dropping from 29% last year to 24%. Department of Optometry achieved an 88.7% pass rate, more than three times higher than the national average.
Department of Occupational Therapy at Asia University attained an 82% pass rate, exceeding the national average of 50%. Yu-Kai Chang, a graduate from the fourth cohort, achieved the highest score in the national examination for occupational therapists this year. The first batch of graduates from the Department of Physical Therapy also exhibited outstanding performance, with a pass rate of 62%, significantly higher than the national average of 22.85%.
The national veterinary licensing examination pass rate at Department of Post-Baccalaureate Veterinary Medicine at Asia University stood at 77.14%, far surpassing the national average of 43.83%, with one student ranking fourth nationwide. Graduates from Department of Nursing achieved an 81% pass rate, significantly higher than the national average of 45.81%. Department of Early Childhood Education achieved a 61.9% pass rate, exceeding the national average of 51.64%. Department of Social Work achieved a 30.43% pass rate, higher than the national average of 23.57%.

Additionally, due to the high threshold of the Department of Psychology, which requires a master degree in Psychology and completion of a year-long full-time internship at a professional institution, the average admission rate has remained at only 10% in recent years. Graduates from the Department of Psychology demonstrated excellent performance, with 6 students passing the clinical psychologist examination and 8 passing the counseling psychologist examination in 2022.
President Tsai highlighted Asia University's initiatives, including free exam preparation courses for licenses and English proficiency, as well as scholarships for domestic and international internships, reinforcing students' competitiveness in domestic and international job markets. The consistent high pass rates of Asia University's related departments in national licensing examination every year, surpassing national pass rates, serve as evidence to this effort. Asia University's " Fengfu Project " in Fengyuan District, Taichung City, integrating education, medical, and health industries, plans to construct three buildings for hospitals, comprehensive long-term care facilities, and public childcare centers by 2028, estimated to create 2000 job opportunities. Through collaboration with China Medical University- Asia University System (CMU-AU System) provides ample internship and employment opportunities through its affiliated medical systems. Graduates securing national examination license can seamlessly transition into the workforce, with an average monthly salary of 50,000 NTD, and salaries are progressively on the rise year by year.
Professor Hsiu-I Chen, Chair of the Department of Physical Therapy, mentioned that this year's national examination conducted by the Ministry of Examination was held at Asia University, relieving students of travel burdens and providing a familiar environment for examinations. Many students could assess their performance shortly after the exam, gaining a general idea of their results and comfortably awaiting the official announcement. Professor Chi-Hsien Chien, Chair of the Department of Post-Baccalaureate Veterinary Medicine, pointed out that having Asia University Veterinary Teaching Hospital served as a practical training ground, enabling students to balance theoretical knowledge with hands-on experience, as reflected in their success in the national examination.
Yu-Kai Chang, who ranked first in the occupational therapist examination, credited the recorded online course videos and lecture materials provided by the department, along with the school's free coaching classes for the national examination, for greatly aiding him. He attributed his achievement of securing the top position to Asia University's excellent guidance system for national examinations and the selfless dedication of the teachers in their teaching commitment. Cai-Li Weng, ranking second in the audiologist examination, mentioned that during the national examination preparation classes, she reviewed the course materials in sync with the teachers' progress, understood the direction of the questions, and then prepared specifically according to the subject areas. She expressed deep gratitude to the department's teachers for their guidance and the school for its support, acknowledging that this support contributed significantly to her excellent results.
